How we do this
Traveling to Tijuana, Mexico
It’s common for many patients to feel anxious or overwhelmed by upcoming travel. There are many preparations required by medical tourism and a long-distance treatment program.
In hopes of removing some of this stress, we’ve compiled the following list of reminders.
Travel Documents
Ensure passports are valid for the duration of your stay and packed in an accessible place. Keep a copy of important documents (i.e. passports, personal identification, flight itinerary, etc.) with someone you can contact in the event of loss/theft. While these events are uncommon for our patients to experience, preventative measures are important for any international traveler.
Tijuana Center Advisory: Patients arriving in Mexico from the San Diego airport will be assisted by their driver to buy a $25.00 Visitor’s Permit at the border.
If you are traveling from a country outside of the United States, please check with the Embassy or Consulate of Mexico in your country to ensure that you have all the necessary travel documents.
Tickets and Itinerary
Most patients traveling by air to Tijuana arrive at San Diego International Airport (SAN). To confirm your treatment center stay, please forward the confirmed flight itinerary to your Patient Counselor as soon as possible.
Reservations
After receiving your deposit or flight confirmation, your Patient Counselor will secure your accommodations.
As an out-patient, your Patient Counselor will reserve a hotel room or the Patient House for you before your arrival. Your treatment plan includes the cost of lodging, daily transportation to/from the center, and transportation to/from the airport or your San Diego location. We serve three meals daily, juices, and snacks for you and your companion at no additional cost.
Packing
While both of our treatment centers enjoy tropical weather, mornings and evenings can be chilly. Prepare to dress in light layers, especially from December through February. We recommend packing a week’s worth of comfortable, loose-fitting clothing. Laundry service is available
Please keep in mind that your suitcase will need space to accommodate the components of your home program. This requires you to check your luggage (not carry-on!) for the return trip home.
Transportation
Tijuana: Before your arrival, our transportation coordinator will reach out to confirm arrangements. Our driver will meet you at the San Diego airport to escort you across the border.
Please arrive fasting for 12 hours in preparation for lab tests.
Important Note:
Please SKIP breakfast and take very little water on the first morning in preparation for lab tests on admission.
